To ensure your business is protected against power failure you need to ensure you have a robust standby power system in place. To help you plan your system, we've compiled the following steps:

Stage 1: To ensure your UPS system gives you adequate protection, we'd recommend performing an initial risk assessment to determine how badly your business would be affected against power failure.

Stage 2: Next you need to classify your equipment depending on the level of power protection it requires. For example:

  • Critical systems cannot fail and need maximum protection
  • Sensitive systems need time to enable them to be shut down properly
  • Essential systems need to continue running during a power failure, but can handle a short break in power
  • Other systems that are unaffected if the power were to fail

Stage 3: Once your equipment is categorised, you now need to understand how you can protect it against a power failure:

  • Critical systems require a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and Diesel Generator
  • Sensitive systems require just a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)
  • Essential systems require just a Diesel Generator
  • Other systems may not require any form of standby power
